Default Security Code For An Ipod 4gb Nano

The touchscreen on your iPod is easy to engage, activating with the slightest touch of your finger. There are two options to protect the display from engaging unintentionally. If you lock the iPod screen, it requires a security code to unlock, protecting your device from unauthorized use. There is no default code set for the iPod Nano. Instead, you are required to set a security code when you access the "Lock" option. Alternatively, the "Hold" switch allows you to have the same function without a security code.

Setting the Code

Enter the "Screen Lock" menu under "Extras." The "New Combination" screen will appear if you have not already configured a security code. Use the wheel to select each number individually, pressing the center button to confirm after you select each one. Use the "Next" button to move to the next position and the "Previous" button to go back one space. Press the center button after you select the last number, then enter the code and press the center button again when the confirmation screen appears.

Locking the Screen

Choose the "Lock" option under "Screen Lock" in the "Extras" menu. Press the center button to confirm the screen lock. A padlock image appears on the screen to confirm that you locked your iPod. Add a shortcut to the "Screen Lock" section on your iPod's home screen to simplify the locking process.

Alternatives

Slide the "Hold" button into the "Hold" position to lock the display from unintentional activation. The "Hold" button disables the display screen until you slide the switch back to "Off." This feature allows you to protect your phone without having to enter a security code to access it again. It is not as secure, as anyone can disengage the "Hold" switch.

Troubleshooting

If you experience trouble accessing the iPod with the security code, unlock the device with the USB cable. Attach the USB cable to your iPod, then plug the other end into your primary computer. You can change the existing security code by choosing "Reset" in the "Screen Lock" section under "Extras." Enter the existing code followed by the new one, then press the center button to confirm the change.
