Format A Disk For A Camera

Camera

Memory cards, or disks, store the pictures and videos you take on a digital camera. Prepare the disk for a new camera or new pictures by formatting the disk. Formatting a disk for a camera typically takes less than five minutes and can be done in one of two ways. You can either format you camera disk from your computer or from the camera itself. Regardless of the method, the process is quick and simple.

Instructions

Camera

1. Insert the disk or card into your camera. In most digital cameras, the slot is located in the battery compartment.

2. Turn on your camera.

3. Navigate to the camera's settings menu. The exact process varies greatly between camera models. A general guide is to press either the "Menu" or "Settings" button on the camera. From "Menu," select "Settings."

4. Select "Format" or "Erase All."

5. Select "Yes" or "OK" when asked to confirm if you want to format the disk.

9. Right click the disk or card and select "Format."
