Unlock A Nokia N Gage

Get the most out of your Nokia N Gage by unlocking it.

The Nokia N Gage cell phone was originally released in 2003 and has a plethora of entertaining and helpful features, including a Symbian operating system, Bluetooth connectivity, a WAP browser, Java downloadable games and an MP3 player function. In order to use your N Gage on any other network than the service provider from whom you purchased it, you have to unlock it. After unlocking your phone, you can use other SIM cards, enabling you to make and receive calls with the network of your choice, without having to buy into a new plan.

Instructions

1. Acquire your N Gage's IMEI number by typing "*#06#" into the keypad. Write down the 16-digit number that appears on the screen, and set it aside for later.

2. Contact your service provider's tech support department, and request an unlock code. You'll need to give them your IMEI number and mobile phone number. If they refuse to give you a code, you can purchase one from an online site like Mobileunlocksolutions.com, Unlocking.com or Unlockallcellular.com (see links in Resources).

3. Power down your N Gage, and remove its SIM card; this is located underneath the battery. Slide it out from underneath its latch to remove it.

4. Power the phone back on. A message will appear that says "Enter Subsidiary Code." Type "#pw+unlock code+1#" into your keypad, where "unlock code" represents the unlock code that you received in a previous step. To get the "+" symbol, tap the "*" button twice. To get the letter "p," tap the "*" button three times. To get the letter "w," tap the "*" button four times. A message will appear on your phone screen, after entering the code, that reads "SIM Restriction Off."
