Copy Contacts & Numbers From A Windows Mobile Phone To A Java Phone

A life without cell phones has almost become unimaginable. As the technology continues to expand, new phones enter the market with improved features. To enjoy the new upgrades, you often need to add new software to your device. All the data, especially phone contacts and numbers, that you had on your previous device might be very important to you. Windows Mobile phone lets you sync your contacts to your PC, after which you can transfer them to your new cell phone.

Instructions

Export from Windows Mobile Phone

1. Connect your Windows Mobile device to your computer using its USB data cable.

2. Download ActiveSync software for your operating system from the Microsoft website (see Resources for the link).

3. Open ActiveSync, and select "Tools" from the list of options at the top of the Microsoft ActiveSync window. Then select "Options." The "Settings" window will open.

4. Go to the "Settings" menu on the desktop computer settings option, and select "Contacts."

5. Click "OK" to synchronize your contacts and export them to your computer.

Import to Java Phone

6. Make sure you have downloaded and installed the phone manager application that came along with your Java phone on a CD when you purchased it. For instance, if it's a Nokia phone, you must have obtained the CD of Nokia PC Suite. Similarly, for Sony Ericsson or Samsung, you have to install Sony Ericsson PC Suite or Samsung PC Studio.

7. Connect your Java phone to the computer using its USB data cable. If your phone prompts, select the respective option--for instance, "Nokia PC Mode." When you select the option specific to the phone's application, your computer will recognize the connected device and will launch the respective application on the screen.

8. Click the "Contacts" tab, and choose the "Sync" option.

9. Locate and select the contacts list file you downloaded from your Windows Mobile phone. The file will then start transferring to your Java phone.

10. Exit from the application and disconnect the USB connection when the file finishes transferring.
