Activate A Verizon Cell Phone Over The Internet

Activating your new or replacement Verizon Wireless phone can be accomplished using the company's "My Verizon" online account program. Current Verizon customers can register for a free "My Verizon" account online and then register replacement and new phones once they have been received. After you've activated the phone online, a simple over-the-air phone programming sequence is dialed to complete the process.

Instructions

1. Visit the "My Verizon" website and log in to your account. You can also register for an account by clicking on the "Register" link if you are new to using the Verizon online option.

2. Click on the "My Services" tab at the top of the page.

3. Click on the link titled "Activate Phone" and wait for the next screen to appear.

4. Follow the on-screen steps. This process will vary depending on the type of account you are activating. Verizon will lead you with simple instructions through the entire process. If you're prompted for the ESN for your phone, you'll find it on your phone's box and on the back of your phone underneath the battery.

5. Program your phone after completing the online process. To program your phone, simply dial *228 and then press the "Send" key. Follow the voice prompts that appear, selecting the activation process to program your device.

6. Test your phone by making and receiving a phone call. If both calls are successful, the process is complete. If the process fails, try the *228 command one more time before calling customer service.
