Installing a new touch screen on your phone.
The Nokia N95 is a high-tech smartphone that, along with other newer model phones, has a touch-screen LCD display. What is unique about this phone's touch screen is that it slides up to reveal a keypad on the bottom of the phone. This is a convenient feature but it can pose problems if you have a broken or damaged screen and are thinking about replacing it yourself. The fact that the screen is a moveable part of the phone may be intimidating. The good news is that removing the touch screen on your N95 phone and installing a new one is a pretty straightforward process.
Instructions
1. Turn your Nokia N95 off and slide the back battery cover off by gently pulling it down and away from the phone. Use your fingers to lift the battery from its compartment.
2. Shift the phone's LCD screen down about an inch until it can't go any further. Use your Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws on either corner of the back of the LCD screen.
3. Slide the LCD screen all the way up so it is fully open and the keyboard is revealed. Use your screwdriver to remove the screws on either corner of the back of the screen.
4. Turn the unit right-side up and insert the tip of your pry tool in the seam between the front frame of the LCD screen and its back panel. (A plastic pry tool can be purchased from any electronics store.) Work your way gently down the sides until the clips release. Remove the front frame from the LCD screen.
5. Locate the thick orange LCD connector ribbon just under the screen. Insert the tip of your case opener tool under the ribbon where it connects to the green motherboard and gently pop up the metal guard holding it in place.
6. Lift up the LCD display and remove it from the phone. Insert your new LCD touch screen (available form your Nokia retailer or online) in its place and connect the ribbon to the motherboard. Reassemble your Nokia N95 in the reverse order you took it apart.
