Install Logitech Headphones

Play some music on the computer, and the sound should automatically be output to the headphones.

There are two technologies in use in computer headphones: analog and USB. Logitech analog headphones are commonly identified by a 3.5 mm jack. An analog headphone plugs into the computer's soundcard. Logitech USB headphones incorporate their own sound card and are not dependent on the computer's. As one might expect, a USB headphone is identified with a USB jack. USB can be a superior solution for web chatting.

Instructions

Analog Headphones

1. Plug the 3.5 mm jack into the green 3.5 mm input on the computer's sound card. The sound card will be at the back of a desktop computer. The sound card will be internal in a laptop and may not be immediately identifiable, so look for a 3.5 mm input. Plug the headphones into the input with the headphone icon.

2. Play some music on the computer and the sound should automatically be output to the headphones.

3. Plug in the microphone, if available, into a 3.5 mm input with a microphone icon. Check that the recording device is selected. From the Control Panel, go to Sounds. In the "Adjust Volume for" drop-down box, make sure that the microphone is checked.

USB Headphones

4. Plug the USB cable into a spare USB input on the computer. Allow the computer to identify the hardware and install necessary drivers for it. It will do this automatically.

5. Play some music on the computer and the sound should automatically be output to the Logitech headphones.

6. Verify that a USB microphone appears on the computer's system and that the volume is acceptable. Double-click on the speaker icon in your system tray. Click Options and Properties and make sure that the USB microphone is shown in the Mixer settings there.
