Save Contacts To An Sd Card

Saving your cell phone contacts to an SD card is a method used to backup your phonebook.

An SD (Security Digital) card is a convenient way to store or back up important documents, pictures, presentations, music, programs and more. On a cell phone, you can store contacts, text messages or received files on an SD card, a miniSD or microSD card. Saving your contacts on a SD card is an ideal way to copy them to a new cell phone or restore them if you have lost your phone.

Instructions

Syncing Your Cell Phone Contacts

1. Select "Main menu" from your cell phone's options. Select "Settings," then "Synchronization."

2. Select "Options" and click "Edit." Check the box next to "Phone Book" by clicking it, then select "Save."

3. Select "Options" again and click on "Sync Now." A few minutes are needed to send your cell phone contacts to your service provider's website. Once finished, a free text message will notify you that your contacts can be seen on the service provider's website.

4. Enter your service provider's website using your PC. Log in by inputting your cell phone number and password. If you have not logged in before, select to sign up and follow the website's prompts to create an account.

5. Use the mouse to click "Contacts" on the account status page. When all your contacts are displayed, right-click the mouse and select "Save Page As," then click "Save." This will save your contacts in the "Downloads" folder of your computer.

6. Insert an SD card into your computer. Click "Start" and "My Computer." Double-click the removable device unit that holds your SD card, which will open a window. Right-click the SD card window, select "New," click "folder" and name it "Contacts," then drag the window to the side.

7. Click "Start" and "My Documents." Double-click "Downloads" and search for the document that holds your saved contacts. Have both the downloads and SD card windows opened side by side.

8. Transfer your contacts to the SD card window. To do this, click and hold down the mouse button on the file that holds your contacts, then drag it to the SD card window. Let go of the mouse button, to drop the file in the folder that you made previously.

Save Contacts From a SIM Card to an SD Card

9. Go to the menu on your cell phone, select the "phone book" or "contacts" folder and select "Options." Select "Import Contacts," then select "SIM Card." Check individual boxes or select "Options" and click "Select All," then click "Import." This will move the contacts stored on your phone to your SIM card.

10. Turn off your cell phone. Take the battery cover off your phone and slide the SIM card out.

11. Purchase and install the software that's included with the SIM card reader into your computer. Follow the on-screen prompts when installing the program. Once finished, the SIM card reader will read information stored to the SIM card.

12. Place the SIM card into the SIM card reader. Plug it into the USB port of your computer.

13. Insert an SD card into your computer. Go to the "Start" menu and click on "My Computer." Under "Devices with Removable Storage," double-click the two devices to open up the SIM card reader window and SD card window. In the SIM card reader window, search for "Contacts." Transfer all your contacts to the SD card window by applying the same method as discussed. This will copy and save them to your SD card.
