Bluetooth is a technological amenity that has been made available for computers and other electronic devices for the purpose of wireless networking and communication. The Bluetooth feature can be installed to function on almost all operating systems on the most up-to-date computer systems. Installing Bluetooth in Windows XP requires only patience and the ability to follow simple instructions.

Instructions

1. Plug the Bluetooth USB adapter into an available USB inlet port on your computer. The computer will automatically begin working to detect the connection. An indication will appear in the lower right corner of the screen on the computer's task bar once the device has been detected successfully. Its software driver will be stored to your computer automatically.

2. Click on the Windows icon in the lower left corner of your screen on the computer's task bar to access the Start menu. Select the "Control Panel." When the Control Panel opens, click "System and Maintenance." Click on the "Device Manager" link that can be found in the left pane of the screen.

3. In the Device Manager screen, locate and select the tab that displays the Bluetooth icon. This tab should be entitled, "Bluetooth Devices". A collapse item will appear as a subtopic under the Bluetooth device menu. This tab will bare the technical name of your Bluetooth device.

4. Right-click on the technical Bluetooth device name in the collapse menu. Select the "Update Driver" action to begin the installation process. The Bluetooth Hardware Installation Wizard will appear on your computer screen.

5. Opt not to search the Web for updates by clicking on the option that reads, "No, Not This Time," on the first initial installation screen. On the second installation screen, click on the "Advanced" to install the driver from a specific location. Choose the default location that will appear on the following screen by clicking "Next." The Bluetooth driver's software components and files will begin copying and installing automatically.
