Bluetooth headsets have greatly enhanced the "hands-free" experience, especially now that several states have enacted laws making it illegal to talk on your phone without a headset while driving. These devices eliminate tangled wires and clothing wrinkled from wire-clips. Desired by some business-minded users for their more professional look, Plantronics headsets are popular choices when it comes to buying a new device. Unfortunately, setting up the connection between the headset and your phone is not at easy as one might hope.
Instructions
1. Power your Plantronics headset off. Because the pairing mode can only be initiated from the "Off" state, you need to hold down the "Answer" key for several seconds until the device has completely shut down.
2. Activate your handset's bluetooth radio. This is generally done by pressing "Menu" at the home screen, then selecting "Settings," "Bluetooth Settings," and then selecting "Turn Bluetooth on." A confirmation message will appear onscreen indicating that the service is now activated. Note that steps may vary from handset to handset so consult your user manual as needed for alternative steps.
3. Place your headset into pairing mode. For many Plantronics devices, this is done by holding down the "Answer" key until blue and red alternating lights begin to flash. This signals that the device is ready to be paired with a handset. As steps can vary from model to model, you may need to refer to your headset's user manual for alternative steps if needed.
4. Scan for devices using your handset. This is generally done by pressing "Menu" at the home screen, then choosing "Settings," "Bluetooth Settings," and then "Scan for devices." The phone will search for nearby bluetooth devices and alert you that it has found a Plantronics headset. Select this device and, when prompted for the headset's security code, enter "0000." Your headset is now paired with your handset.
