How Do I Find Out My FEMA Registration ID Number?
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), under the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, supplies disaster assistance to U.S. individuals, families and businesses in the form of temporary housing and money or construction assistance for home repairs, replacement and rebuilding. When a person applies for disaster assistance through FEMA, FEMA assigns a nine-digit registration ID number to track the disaster assistance application and all correspondence or information related to that specific person and situation. It doesn't matter whether you misplaced or lost your registration ID number, FEMA supplies several methods to quickly find it.
Instructions
1. Check the registration confirmation screen that appears at the end of your online registration if you just registered for disaster assistance. If you didn't register recently or online, skip this step.
2. Look for your nine-digit registration ID number on any correspondence that FEMA has sent to you through the mail.
3. Go the Disaster Assistance Center Account Login screen by clicking the link in the Resources section to access your registration account that shows your personal information, application and correspondence with FEMA. Type your User ID and Password/PIN into the fields provided and click the "Login" button. After you open your account, retrieve your registration ID number.
4. Call the FEMA Disaster Helpline at 800-621-FEMA (3362), select the "For calls related to disaster assistance" option and request assistance with acquiring your registration ID number from a FEMA Disaster Helpline agent.
5. Visit a FEMA Disaster Recovery Center with proof of identification and ask for assistance with retrieving your registration ID number.
