Activate A Verizon Cellphone Using "My Verizon"

If you've just received a new Verizon mobile phone or are activating an old phone, you must activate it before use. Visit the Verizon website to activate your cellphone using your online Verizon account.


Instructions


1. Go to the Verizon wireless website at verizonwireless.com. Click "Sign In/Register" at the top right-hand corner of the page and follow onscreen instructions to log into or register for a My Verizon account.


2. Click the "My Services" tab.


3. Click "My Phone." in the screen that displays next.


4. Click "Activate Phone."


5. Choose "Activate New Phone" under "Equipment upgrades" if you have a brand-new phone and new service. Choose "Activate Phone" under "Existing or replacement equipment" if you are activating a used phones, insurance replacements or certified, like-new device.


6. Follow onscreen instructions to complete the requested information. Choose your cellphone number. Enter the phone's ESN or MEID number. Find this by removing the battery and looking on the sticker on the back of the phone. It will either be labeled with ESN or MEID, or start with "a000000" or "a100000." It could also be an 11-digit number starting with a zero. Choose your reason for activation where requested. If your reason isn't listed, choose "Other."


7. Enter in the location code and order number, found on your shipping receipt, if your phone is brand new.


8. Choose "Submit."


9. Accept terms and conditions when prompted to complete your activation, if your phone is brand new.


10. Wait five minutes, then program your cellphone. Dial *228 and press send. Choose option 1 to program. Remain on hold until you receive the message that your programming is successful. Power cycle the phone by turning it off and then back on.
