Unlock A Kingston Memory Card For A Nokia

Nokia memory cards must be unlocked with a password.


Nokia cell phones have a small multimedia memory card (MMC) installed on them, which stores data information. This card is able to lock and unlock itself using a password. If you have a locked Kingston memory card from your Nokia and do not remember the password, you must use a third-party software program to unlock it. Otherwise, you will be unable to retrieve the information on the card, such as data files, ringtones and pictures.


Instructions


1. Turn off the Nokia phone. Remove the battery compartment on the back and press down on the Kingston memory card to make it pop up. Slide the card out with one finger.


2. Insert the Kingston memory card into the memory card slot on your PC. Be sure to insert it the right way, with the label facing up and the "bent" corner of the card on the upper right side.


3. Download and install a software program that will find the password (see the Resources section of this article).


4. Open the program and select "Search." Type in "MMCSTORE."


5. Highlight and right-click the file to copy it. Save it to your desktop.


6. Right-click on this file on your desktop and select "Rename." Type in "MMCSTORE.txt."


7. Double-click on this renamed file to view it. Look for your password in the file.


8. Remove and reinsert the memory card into your computer. When you are prompted for the password, type in the password from the text file.
