Synchronize A Google Calendar With Mobile

With the advent of smartphone devices, you may have calendaring functionality on your handheld mobile phone. Maintaining a calendar on your phone and in your Google account can be irritating and time-consuming if you constantly have to update each with new events. Google has released an application (or setup technique) for various smartphones to synchronize your Google Calendar with your mobile phone's. If you have a BlackBerry, iPhone, Nokia S60 or Windows Mobile device, you can use Google Sync to synchronize between the two.

Instructions

BlackBerry

1. Go to "m.google.com/sync" from your BlackBerry's Web browser.

2. Click "Download" once the page loads and wait for Google Sync to download to your phone.

3. Click "Run" once the download is complete to launch the application.

4. Enter your Google account login details and click "Login." Google Sync will now sync your BlackBerry calendar with your Google Calendar.

iPhone

5. Go to "Settings" on your iPhone. Tap "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" and then "Add Account."

6. Tap "Microsoft Exchange" (as opposed to Google Mail, this sets up all aspects of the Google Account rather than just email).

7. Enter your Google account email address in the "Username" field, and your password. Leave the "Domain" field empty. Click "Next." If the "Unable to Verify..." screen appears, click cancel.

8. Enter "Server" as "m.google.com" (without quotations) then tap "Next."

9. Slide the "Calendars" slider to "On," and then tap "Done." Tap "Keep on My iPhone" to keep the existing data. Your calendar on your iPhone will now be synced with your Google Calendar.

Nokia

10. Open the "Mail for Exchange" application on your Nokia smartphone. Click "Yes" to confirm profile creation.

11. Set the "Exchange Server" to "m.google.com," the "Secure connection" to "Yes" and the "Access Point" to "Connection." Click "Next."

12. Enter your Google account email address as "Username" and your password. Set the "Domain" to "None." Click "Next."

13. Set the "Syncrhonize Calendar" to "Yes," the "Sync Calendar Back" to your preference, and "Initial Sync" to "Keep items on phone" so that you don't override existing calendar information.

14. Click "Next" until setup is complete. During the following steps you will be able to set up contacts synchronization as well as email.
