2010 Free Airtel Gprs Tricks

Airtel provides wireless calling service and cell phones across India.

One of the unique things that India-based cellular provider Airtel offers to its customers are varying phone-based tricks they can perform to enhance their current service agreement and features. Airtel uses the general packet radio service, or GPRS, to facilitate calls and data transfers made from phones in its network. GPRS is a wireless technology that is slightly faster than "3G" cellular networks because it uses the worldwide wireless spectrum known as "GSM." If you have an Airtel cellular phone, try to perform some of these tricks to gain features and participate in promotional discounts and offers.

Free Two Months of 2GB Data

If you've got a smart phone with Airtel, but are not currently using their data services, you can use this trick to give the data service a try for free without having to subscribe to anything or sign any data contracts. Compose a new text message using your device and enter "543210" as the number which will receive the message. In the body of the SMS text message, simply put "DATA" and nothing else. Send the message to the number and await for a confirmation message to verify that you've done it correctly and the offer from Airtel is still valid.

100MB Trick

Add 100MB of download bandwidth to your existing data plan by using another SMS-based trick you can perform directly from your phone. Once completed, you'll have an additional 100MB of data that you can use for the month. After the month is up, the extra 100MB is not available and you will automatically return to the service level to which you were previously subscribed. Perform this free trick by sending an SMS message with "MY DATA" as the contents to the phone number "543210" from your Airtel cell phone.

Network Settings Trick

Airtel customers with capable devices can browse the Internet for free by modifying the network settings in their device. Once accessed, the proxy, APN, homepage, and network port need to be modified. By navigating through a proxy server, the device routes its Internet traffic to a different server and avoids being detected as traffic that should be deducted from your contract's monthly data allowance. Change the proxy to 203.145.131.148, the APN to "airtelfun.com" and the port to 80 or 8080. Your homepage should be reset to "http://www.google.co.in/xhtml". Open up the browser and access a web page, then check your data allowance to confirm if the trick is working or not.

Caveats

Some of the GRPS network tricks offered by Airtel are promotional offers and discounts, while others are workarounds provided by customer service to Airtel users who may be experiencing problems with their GRPS network connection. It's important to note that these tricks may only work temporarily and may not be permanent settings. Further, by modifying aspects of your device such as the network settings, you can potentially introduce other problems. If you are unsure if you should attempt any of these tricks, consult with Airtel first.
