My Motorola U9 Has Stopped Ringing

When your Motorola U9 has stopped ringing you could possibly miss an important call or message. Some causes of the phone not ringing can potentially be fixed without the need to reach out for technical assistance. A non-ringing phone could result from your phone's settings or an incorrect ringtone format.

Vibration Mode

If your Motorola U9 mobile phone has stopped ringing, ensure the "Vibrate All" setting is not enabled. When vibration mode is enabled on the U9, the phone does not provide audible notification of new calls or messages. An icon is displayed on the phone's screen when vibration mode is active. Press the "Volume Up" key on the phone to deactivate the mode. The icon will disappear from the screen to confirm that the mode is disabled.

Audio Profiles

The U9 features the ability to create custom sound profiles. If your phone has stopped ringing, it's possible that the silent profile was activated. The silent profile keeps your phone from playing any sounds for all alerts. You can determine which profile is active by accessing the phone's settings and then profiles. If the silent profile is set as the active profile, change to a different profile. Test your phone to determine if the ringing issue is resolved.

Ringtone Issues

The Motorola U9 is only capable of playing certain ringtone formats. Acceptable formats for the U9 include MP3, AAC+ and WMA. If you created a ringtone for your phone and it will not ring, check the format of the tone. You can open the ringtone's properties on your computer to view the format. If the format is not compatible with your phone, use the software you used to make the ringtone to convert the file to an acceptable format.

Additional Troubleshooting

Pull the U9's battery if the ringing problem persists. The process of removing the battery is a soft reset. If an application is preventing the U9 from ringing, the reset may resolve the problem. Leave the battery out for one minute before testing to see if the problem is resolved. Contact your service provider if problems with the phone's ringer persist. Your provider can help with additional troubleshooting and possibly replace the phone if necessary.
