Remove Cell Phone Data

If you're looking to recycle, upgrade or sell your cell phone, it's a smart idea to delete all information first. The last thing you want is some stranger having access to all your personal information. You can manually delete your information, but much of the data can still be recovered with the use of third-party tools. In order to ensure that you completely delete all the data from your cell phone, you should overwrite the data or reformat your cell phone. Every cell phone works differently, so you will have to find the instructions for your specific model in order to do so.

Instructions

Delete Cell Phone Data

1. Call your voicemail and delete any voice messages, new and saved.

2. Open your phone's menu and select your messages. Some phones will have a "delete all" option, while others may have you mark all your messages (like email) before you can delete them. If so, look for a "Mark All" option in the options menu. This will prevent you from having to mark each message one by one.

3. Go back to your phone's starting screen and enter your "Contacts" list. Most phones will bring you to the list once you press down. If not, you have to open your menu and open it from there. Once in the list, open the options menu. You will find the option to delete each entry individually or delete the entire list. Once again, some phones may ask you to mark your contacts before you delete them, so look for the "Mark All" option.
