Reprogram Onstar To Work With My Bluetooth Phone

OnStar contacts emergency services if you are in an accident.

OnStar provides you with a sense of security whenever you are driving alone or with your family. If you ever have trouble with your car or get into an automobile accident, you can use OnStar to provide you with service. You can also use Bluetooth on your OnStar system, but only if you have a Bluetooth-enabled vehicle purchased from General Motors. To reprogram your OnStar system with Bluetooth, you need to contact your OnStar representative.

Instructions

1. Look through your OnStar's instruction manual to find out the current version. Alternatively, you can contact an OnStar representative to find out that information.

2. Contact your OnStar representative. Tell the representative that you would like to upgrade your system to Bluetooth. Since this task requires a General Motors technician, OnStar will provide the closest GM dealership. This process involves downloading Bluetooth software to your specific OnStar system.

3. Call OnStar again when the process is completed. Verify the software installation with the OnStar representative. The representative can then reprogram your OnStar system to work with Bluetooth.

4. Press the "MENU" button on your cell phone. Navigate to "Bluetooth" and select the "Enable" option. Select "Add a Device" and select your OnStar system. Click "OK" to confirm the change. Your OnStar system and cell phone should now work together.
