There are thousands of custom ringtones available for purchase that allow you to customize your cell phone with your own special sounds that will separate your tones from the rest of the crowd. Ringtones can be purchased through subscription services or are individually priced around a dollar each.
Cell Phone Providers
Most cellular phone providers have ringtones available for purchase through their website, or you can purchase ringtones from your mobile smartphone. Visit your provider's website to sample various ringtones and purchase them online.
Ringtone Subscriptions
Purchasing a ringtone subscription allows you to pay a flat fee for ringtones. The subscriptions are usually monthly; however, there are some sites that offer longer terms such as six months. Once you purchase a subscription, you will be able to download a specified number of during that time period ringtones. See the Resources section for companies that offer ringtone subscriptions.
iTunes
Apple's iTunes now offers the ability to purchase ringtones thorugh the iTunes store at around 99 cents per ringtone (as of 2010). You can download the iTunes software from Apple's website at no cost. If you own an iPhone, you can easily transfer ringtone purchases by syncing your phone with the software. If you don't own an iPhone, you can transfer your ringtone purchase by using a USB data connection with the software.
