Flip mino battery removal can be challenging.
The Flip Mino is a very small high definition video camera that offers image stabilization and can record one or two hours of video depending on the model. The Flip Mino is equipped with an internal lithium-ion rechargeable battery. The battery is charged by attaching the Flip Mino's USB arm to the USB port of a computer and takes up to four hours to fully charge. Since the Flip Mino's battery is internal there is no easy way to remove the battery other than disassembling the camera.
Instructions
1. Expose the Flip Mino's case screws. Using a plastic spudger or thin opening tool peel back the corners of the label at the bottom of the Flip Mino to reveal two screws. One screw will be near the center of the camera and the other screw near the left corner when looking at the front panel.
2. Remove the two screws that attach the front panel to the case using a Phillips screwdriver.
3. Disassemble the front panel from the outer case. Using a plastic spudger or thin opening tool slide the tool in the seam between the front panel and the outer case of the Mino until the seams at the bottom, left and right edges are open.
4. Release the front panel from the mounting tabs. Push the front panel towards the top edge of the camera removing the front panel from its mounting paying careful attention to the ribbon cable connecting the front panel to the circuit board.
5. Remove the ribbon cable from the circuit board by gently pulling the cable from its socket on the circuit board. The Mino's front panel and case are now separated.
6. Lift the top edge of the Mino's display screen from its bracket using a plastic spudger or thin opening tool.
7. Access the display's data cable by using a using a plastic spudger or thin opening tool to pry the display brackets from the circuit board. Remove the display brackets.
8. Unhook the display cable from the circuit board. Open the data cable's retaining clip and remove the data cable from its socket on the circuit board allowing the display to be removed.
9. Remove the four screws that hold the circuit board to the case using a Phillips screwdriver.
10. Remove the circuit board from the case being careful not to disconnect the wires that connect the case and the circuit board.
11. Remove the USB ribbon cable from its socket in the case using tweezers.
12. Remove the battery connector from its socket on the circuit board by pulling with tweezers.
13. Remove the two screws that hold the battery to the case using a Phillips screwdriver.
14. Pry the battery from the case using a plastic spudger or thin opening tool. The battery is now removed from the Mino. A new Flip Mino battery pack or two AA rechargeable batteries can be installed. Reverse the above steps to reassemble the Mino.
