Update Java On An N70

Updating Java on your Nokia N70 is not directly possible; it uses Java ME (Micro Edition), which the phone manufacturer is responsible for providing. If a Java update is available for your phone, it will be included in a software update provided by Nokia.

You have two options when it comes to updating; you can either do so directly from your phone, or by connecting the N70 to your computer and running the Nokia Software Updater application.

Instructions

Update by Phone

1. Dial #0000# in your phone as you would a normal number, or open your menu and select "Device Manager."

2. Select "Options" and then "Check for Updates."

3. Follow the onscreen instructions to start updating your N70.

4. Restart your phone upon completion.

Updating Using Your PC

5. Download the Nokia Software Updater (see Resources).

You'll need to select "Nokia N70" from the list before you're given an option to download.

6. Install the software by double-clicking the file you downloaded and following the onscreen instructions.

7. Connect an appropriate USB cable to your phone and PC. (It comes with your phone.)

8. Start the Nokia Software Updater. Follow the onscreen instructions. The software will detect your phone and display any available update options.

If you already have the latest firmware for your phone, you can choose to reinstall it if you wish; click "Reinstall" when the application prompts you. Otherwise, click "Cancel."

9. Restart your phone upon completing updates.
