Multimedia messages contain pictures, videos or sound clips.
Many of today's cell phones have the ability to capture still pictures or video. These pictures and videos can be saved in the phone's memory for later viewing or shared and sent to the phone of a friend or family member. A message embedded with a picture, video or sound clip is called a multimedia message. It is similar to a text message, but includes a file to be downloaded. For your phone to receive a multimedia message, it needs to be capable of sending and receiving text messages and be able to access a mobile web browser.
Instructions
1. Ensure your cell phone is turned on and has sufficient wireless coverage. The signal should indicate if you are in an area that is capable of handling data use as well.
2. Wait for your phone to receive an alert. This varies by make and model, but typically an icon will appear on the screen in the form of a mailbox or envelope. Depending on your phone's settings, it may also make a sound.
3. Access your new message through your phone's main menu. Open the message by highlighting it and pressing your phone's "OK" or "Enter" button.
4. Locate the attached file in the body of the message. Highlight it and press "Enter" or "OK." A menu of options will open. Choose the option that says "Open" or "Download."
5. View or listen as the picture, video or sound clip is played on your phone. From here, you may delete it from your device or save it for later use.
