Restore A Phone

You can restore your smartphone with a few simple clicks.

You can repair or restore your cell phone in a few quick steps using your home computer, if you backed up your device ahead of time. If you have not backed up your device since you bought it, you can restore your cell phone to its original settings, but the phone will lose any applications, contacts, calendar appointments or anything else you may have added since your purchased it. Once you've restored your phone, you can sync it again with your calendar or contacts if you have the information stored in multiple locations.

Instructions

1. Download the latest version of your phone's device management software, such as Blackberry Desktop Manager or Apple iTunes.

2. Use the cord that came with your device to connect your cell phone to your computer. The cord will typically feature a smaller, specialized jack to plug into your phone on one end and a USB jack to plug into your computer on the other end.

3. Open the device management software. Click on the section titled "device" or "devices." Select the device you're attempting to restore, if a list appears.

4. Click "restore." Once you click "restore," you may get a selection of backup files from which to choose. Restore all files or pick and choose the ones you want. Click "restore" or "finish" once you're done to begin restoring your device.
