Protect And Find Out If Your Cell Phone Has Virusspyware

If you are concerned with viruses on your smartphone, install antivirus software now.

Smartphones are becoming a larger subset of the population of mobile phone users, with over 100 million in circulation as of 2012 according to ComScore, making them attractive targets for hackers. These devices often contain personal information related to contacts we keep, payment information we may use to buy things, and personal photos or video. Follow some basic safety guidelines, like only installing applications from established developers, to decrease the likelihood of infection.

Instructions

1. Troubleshoot your device when you notice unexpected behavior, as this may be a clue to infection. Observe your phone for unexpected crashes and decreases in performance. Review your cell phone bill for major data usage, unexpected purchases, or other peculiar signs that indicate your account has been compromised. Contact your cell phone provider if you find any evidence that your phone, or your account, has been compromised.

2. Remove the virus or spyware infection present on your device. Download specific applications from your favorite antivirus developers like Norton Security, AVG, or Kaspersky. The iPhone uses a cloud backup system that can restore your phone to a point before infection, with your applications still intact. If your software marketplace does not offer antivirus applications, perform a factory reset for your device per the instructions on the manufacturer website.

3. Avoid installing applications from unauthorized software marketplaces or sources. Install only reputable software, using reviews and ratings as guidance to discover which apps are legitimate. Do not let other people use your phone without your supervision, as even a momentary lapse in your guard can afford a hacker time to snatch personal information from your device.
