Connect My Dell Laptop To My Bluetooth Phone

Connect My Dell Laptop to My Bluetooth Phone

It is becoming increasingly common for people to use their gadgets in conjunction with each other. Bluetooth is a short-range radio technology that allows devices like smart phones, wireless headsets and computers to communicate with each other and share data. Connecting two devices via Bluetooth is a wireless alternative to connection vehicles such as USB cables. There may come a time when you need to pair your Dell laptop and Bluetooth-enabled phone in order to synchronize the two devices.

Instructions

1. Enable the Bluetooth discovery feature on your Dell laptop. Consult the user manual specific to your Dell laptop model for instructions, as the procedure for enabling Bluetooth may vary by model. The process typically involves clicking on the Bluetooth icon located in the shortcut bar at the bottom of the screen. A window titled "Bluetooth Devices" will appear. Click on the "Options" tab and check the "Allow Bluetooth devices to find this computer" option in the "Discovery" section. Click "OK" to confirm your selection.

2. Activate the Bluetooth capability on your phone. The procedure generally consists of accessing the "Connectivity" menu. Select "On" from the "Bluetooth" category. Consult the user manual for your phone for instructions specific to your phone's manufacturer and model.

3. Place your phone next to your laptop. The two Bluetooth-enabled devices will pair.

4. Return to the "Bluetooth Devices" window on your computer. Click on the "Devices" tab and select the "Add…" option. A new window called "Add Bluetooth Device Wizard" will appear. Check the "My device is set up and ready to be found" box and click "Next." Wait until your phone's Bluetooth name appears on the screen. Double click on the phone name.

5. Decide whether you wish to use a Bluetooth password. Using a password is not required but highly recommended for security reasons. You have the option of using the password provided in your phone's user manual, choosing your own or using one selected by the computer. Check off the option you will use in the "Add Bluetooth Device Wizard" window. If using the last option, the wizard will display your password on the screen. Enter the Bluetooth password into your phone.

6. Click "Finish" in the "Add Bluetooth Device Wizard" window.

7. Access the Internet sharing program on your phone and select "Bluetooth PAN" from the list of options. PAN stands for Personal Area Network.

8. Right click on the Bluetooth icon on your Dell laptop and select the "Join a Personal Area Network" option. A window titled "Bluetooth Personal Area Network Devices" will appear. Select your phone from the "Access Points" section and click on "Connect." You should see the message "Connection Successful" once the two devices connect.
